Can having AS help your professional life?

I'm sure Vernon Smith would agree that there are advantages to having a focusing condition like AS.  Given that lifelong social impairment which accompanies AS will always be at least a minor factor in daily life, do you think it's a benefit to have the deep concentration ability that is so prevalent in people with AS?

Perhaps AS inhibits some professions like sales or marketing, but do you think that in research, IT, pure science and other very detail-oriented careers it helps?
