My oldest was only 18 months when my second son was born.  But, yes I think we'd have more if we wanted to have a larger family (we don't) despite having AS in our oldest.

Planning children wasn't my thing, so deciding to have another kid didn't happen.

My kids don't get along well. My aspie daughter used to pinch her aspie brother so he'd get in trouble. They might have been better off as only kids.

My son was 2 when we started to notice that he didn't socialize well. We assumed he needed a sibling to give him a chance to practice being a good friend. He wasn't diagnosed until our daughter was almost a year old. Now we know that both of our children have Asperger's.

I am grateful they have each other. They are best friends. Each understands what makes the other one tick. If the diagnosis had come sooner, we probably would have decided not to have more children, and that would have been a terrible mistake.

The first couple of years after the diagnosis were difficult; but as we learned how to deal with the issues that came up, it became easier. Each year I fall deeper in love with my kids. What we have is precious.
