Does anyone have experience with and recommendations for ocular rosacea?

I recently developed soreness in my eyes and discharge especially in the morning.  Thinking it might be pink eye,  I went to my ophthalmologist, who diagnosed ocular rosacea and sent me on my way with steroidal drops.  I use them when it is especially bad.  The hand out the doctor gave me said there is no cure, and that I should be using warm cloths on my eyes and using drops.  I am hoping someone out there has experience with other techniques that have helped.  I'd love to be able to wear my contacts too, but they seem to make it worse.
