Any advice on how to prepare for surgery and the recovery period that follows?

I'm having surgery on Monday to fix a ruptured achilles tendon.  I'll be immobile for several days after the procedure.  Any recommendations on what I can do beforehand to make the recovery time more bearable?  I'm already planning on stocking the house with food, renting lots of movies, and finding a good book or two.  And making sure the ice machine is working!  What else am I missing?  Any good tips?
