Can Sarah Palin be an advocate for families of children with special needs if she has never had to walk a day in the average mom's shoes?

"First let me state that I consider myself independent. I look to both parties for guidance and what they each have to offer. I found Govenor Palin's comment of being a friend and advocate to parents of special needs children patronizing. As a mom of two boys with Autism she can not possibly know the battles we real "hockey moms" face daily for our children. Somehow I doubt that her son will ever be denied an aide or a proper program. Don't claim to be one of us until you have truly walked a day in our shoes!  --  Christine, Valley Center"  http://community.sandiego6.com/blogs/balancedviews/archive/2008/09/04/3377371.aspx
