I am a healthy 65 year old , living in Beverly Hills, Ca. In December 2005, I got shingles or herpes which is the same thing in my eye, I was on my way with my family to Aspen to ski, when I kept rubbing my eye, 2 days passed I didn't think anything of it, until on the 4th day my eye got puffy and red and very painful, I went to see my eye doctor, he sent me to Jules Stein Eye Institute in Los Angeles Ca., lucky I live here. I saw Dr. Gary Holland and Dr. Gupta M.D. Assistant Professor Of Ophthalmology, Retina Division, thank God for them. When Dr. Holland saw me he rushed me into the hosiptal , (I have all kinds of video and pictures of my eye), I was shocked, I can't believe this is happening to me , I work out at the gym all the time for years, what happened , very confused, I asked the Doctor what cause this to happened, he said chicken pots, virus stay in the body for ever, when you get older,it comes out in the form of shingles, I have never heard of this before, he said, he very seldom see this. The pain is unbearable, and bad imflammation, 3 detach retina, many surgerious , many eye drops,I'm glad to say today June 21, 2008, I am pain free, I can see out of my left eye, the only thing that I have lost is a little vision on my left side of my left eye, I can function normal every day. I can thank my Doctors for that, I almost lost my eye. Oh! I have to take Veltax for life, it could come back if I don't take the pill, one of my Doctors Dr. Moe she had some one with the same problem, and he did not take his med. so it went to his other eye and now he is blind. Oh! after everthing I was seeing double, now with the prism in my glasses the double vision is not there.
