Journal Biopsy Today - Ouch!

I had the uniquely pleasurable experience of a breast biopsy at 9am this morning - at least I managed to get it done in time to still be able to have my surgery as scheduled, and to still go out of town for Thanksgiving!

I thought I was mentally prepared for it - I thought I knew what was going to happen.  But yeesh - when I saw that first needle, I nearly threw up.  I don't like needles.  Eeeeew.

Both of the techs, the cytologist, and the radiologist all thought that the lesion looked like a fluid-filled cyst on the ultrasound image.  So, the radiologist used a small needle at first, to aspirate the fluid.  But, there was no fluid.

Sooooo, they took 4 cores, and then left a small titanium clip in the area where the cores were taken.  That's a lot of big, huge needles.  Then, I had to go get two mammogram images done, to make sure the clip was properly placed.  Yowch!

I'm just hoping that my results come back in time now, and that my surgery goes off without a hitch.

Dr. Meggie - I was thinking of you today knowing you had your biopsy.  Yeah- those needles - no small thing!  And after 4 core samples then ya gotta go get squished in ...
