Like so many things in life, getting fit (staying fit) isn't easy.
Whenever I find myself starting to whine, complain or (ahem) curse during a workout, I catch myself, stop the negativity, and say out loud, "I love the results."
That has become my reaffirming mantra, "I love the results!"
This week, when I dropped to the floor to do pushups, instead of thinking I'll try to do men's pushups, attempt to do them, as I frequently do, I started out thinking, "I will do them." No wavering.
For the first time in my life, I did 10 men's push ups in a row! Then I rested, and did (this is so cool) 10 more! Then I rested, and with the goal of muscle fatigue, I was able to still do seven more. (Usually I'll do two or three men's, then switch and do eight more women's.)
Attitude, as well as practice, really does make a difference.
I do love the results. The results make me grin.
