Good energy begets good energy.
So, in the last few days, I’ve emailed my friends and asked them to keep my Mom and my family in their thoughts (and if they believe, in their prayers). I’ve done the same with childhood and high school pals and former neighbors, in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and California. I’ve also reached out from Washington to Mom’s old church in Indiana and asked for their prayers.
Caregivers often don’t ask for help. But, there are times we cannot handle everything alone. Should not handle alone.
Others really are happy to help, if only they knew how. If only we would ask.
This is one of those times.
By far, the most difficult thing for me as a caregiver is soon to happen: relinquishing the caregiver role. Being Mom’s caregiver has brought me great joy and wonderful memories. I have been extremely blessed to have had her nearly three additional years after The Big Stroke (and 24 years longer than Dad).
But just a few weeks after her 87th birthday party she enjoyed so very much, my incredibly strong mother is fading fast. Her aged heart is wearing out. She barely woke up today, and was barely responsive, except for trying to join me in two songs … with her eyes closed. Was she asleep or awake? I’ll never know.
Was it just last week we sang so many songs?
I’m still amazed at the incredible power of music. As always, her singing was so sweet. So positive. So right.
I truly believe good energy begets good energy.
Please, send some of yours our way. And if you believe, send your prayers as well. (I’m praying for comfort and peace.)
Thank you.
