Journal Mozart Me

I love Tuesdays because that's when the Science section of the NYTimes comes out.  Today there was an interesting article about a surgeon who is also a serious pianist.  This guy has a couple of PhDs and is in general making the rest of us look bad, and has studied the impact of music on healing.

In keeping with my general attitude about IVF #6, which is something like "Desperation and Gloom," I'm going to seriously increase my exposure to music.  I don't have a working stereo in the house in the moment but I just bought a cute little setup that I can plug my Ipod into and I'm going to marinate in music.  According to Dr. Conrad, music can increase our synthesis of growth hormone, and I'm just desperate enough to try it.  I've seen a lot of articles about how music helps with blood pressure, helps seniors with dementia and cognition (but will it help me with my dementia?), helps with pain and nausea, and lifts mood.  So why not?
