Journal Ohrange

My husband and I spent a lot of time and money on our granddaughter, trying to give her something to keep her mind on fun stuff rather than being depressed and curled up on the couch saying she didn't want to live.

We helped her become a collector of "Blythe" dolls - a very interesting line of dolls that I believe are made in Japan now and sold in China and a couple of places here in the states.  The Blythe doll is 12" tall and has a large head and skinny body.  She is based on the large eyed doll paintings of the Keenes in the 60's, I believe.  I actually know a lot about them, but my memory doesn't always work well for me, in fact, it usually makes me feel like an idiot!

She has a good beginning now and seems to like her "dolls", and she had never been a dolly girl before.  Her main doll has quite a wig selection, bright pink, purple and pink, aqua, royal blue and light blue.  I personally prefer the bright pink.  Anyway, Jade is doing real well now and we are relieved, as well as suspicious of such a turn-around - like maybe bipolar?  She will be getting diagnosed soon at the same place her little brother, Max recently was.   Just nice to see her happy.

We were concerned about Max feeling left out with Jade getting dolls in the mail frequently, so I did throw in a dinosaur Chia Pet for him, but today I went wild with orange - Max's favorite color, at least he wouldn't go to school without his orange hoodie, so I think its his favorite.  I got orange sleveless shirts, shirts with sleeves, shirts with logos and without and orange shorts and an orange ensemble with shirt, pants and flip flops (we used to call them thongs) oh, old age!

I know I'm old because I no longer relate to many of the new fangled electronic things taking over our society, and don't forget I hate to be called Dear!!!  I was ready to take it upon myself to tell a petite young woman how rude it is to call someone dear, but realised it was an act of futility and didn't embarass myself afterall.

Can't wait till Max gets his package!
