Diabetes Blogger Spotlight: Amy Tenderich at Diabetes Mine

I started blogging about diabetes with AOL's The Diabetes Blog last spring. Unfortunately, I only had the chance to write for a few months until the blog was retired. Now I know what early retirement feels like at the age of 40! It's not a warm fuzzy, but I did appreciate the steep diabetes learning curve writing for that blog. Now here I am at Trusera, blogging once again about diabetes, a topic that taps into my passionate curiosity, wide-ranging emotions and 30+ years as a sister and daughter of brothers and parents with T1. A most natural outlet for my deep care and concern about everything diabetes.

Most fortunately, diabetes bloggers don't live in a vacuum. As I researched more and more about diabetes last summer, I stumbled upon the good works of many diabetes bloggers. From time to time here at Trusera, I'd like to highlight a diabetes blogger worthy of your attention. There are fantastic, smart people with diabetes (PWDs) tirelessly sharing their insights through blogs -- seriously engaging with medical, pharmaceutical and advocacy groups to better diabetes treatment and offer supportive arenas for all PWDS and their caregivers.

Kicking off the very first Diabetes Blogger Spotlight, I introduce you to Amy Tenderich, author of the influential blog, Diabetes Mine. Her tagline, "A gold mine for straight talk and encouragement for people living with diabetes" encapsulates the blog's mission. Amy has been blogging for 3+ years about diabetes. Beyond covering the latest buzz on diabetes, she has a knack for creating news herself. Her Open Letter to Steve Jobs last year sparked quite a stir. She basically challenged Jobs and team to take the reins as Thought Leader to overhaul the medical design of clunky insulin pumps. It's an inspirational read. She also just announced the Second Annual DiabetesMine design challenge. If you're on board the Manifest Destiny Diabetes Movement to improve the life of PWDs, start panning for gold at one of the biggest, most productive mines of all -- Diabetes Mine. Thanks Amy for all you do.
