Flying with a Child With Autism

I ran across this story about travelling with a child with autism this morning that I thought was inspiring.  It's about a family helping a child with autism conquer his fear of flying.  Here's a bit of what they went through in preparation:

Expecting the worse, we had come well prepared.  We made cards about Josh to pass out to passengers.  (I can never, nor will I ever I think, get used to the stares.)  We determined the best dose of sedative (for Josh of course), practiced boarding at the Museum of Flight, made frequent visits to SeaTac airport, and reluctantly came up with plan Bs in case flying did not work out.  There was little we left to chance.

I thought it might have some lessons or offer inspiration for others in the community that are preparing to travel with children with autism or any child with a fear of flight.  It sounded like an incredible journey and it has a happy ending!
