CP Who?
Back when our oldest was diagnosed with Autism, we did not have the luxury of a computer. We were stuck going to the library and having to read, if you can imagine, a book.
I really am thankful, now, that we didn't.
I learned so much more about parenting a child with Autism by just, well, parenting a child with Autism.
Caitlin was the only child in her school with the diagnosis of Autism. She was the child they would use to model their future children with Autism with. She was setting a standard for what was to be.
I am thankful that I did not have to worry about "curing" or "recovering" my child. I just had to make sure she was happy and receiving the best services available to us at that time.
Come to find out...they did a smashing job. From our pediatrician to our neurologist to our therapists to our amazing teachers....they were dead-on when it came to the treatment of our Caitlin.
Through these people, we learned so much. We also learned how to help our other children and through this, they have all thrived also.
My point, and I do have one, is....don't get caught up in all of the hype on the computer. Don't let the inernet take away from the joy you will have parenting these amazing children.
There has been way too much "doom and gloom" lurking in the internet...it is time we step away and see the beauty of which are children are.
