One Thing I think everyone should know about Breast Cancer
Today is National Cancer Day - and as a 34 year old 2 time Breast Cancer person living with it and surviving it, I'd like to share ONE THING I think every person SHOULD KNOW about CANCER.
CANCER IS NOT A DEATH SENTENCE!
While they may not have found a cure for it, cancer of almost ANY KIND is treatable.
Cancer patients NEED their friends and family for support. Now is NOT the time to vanish from their lives!
No one INCLUDING DOCTORS FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT IT MEANS TO HAVE CANCER - you may have went to school, learned about it, treat patients for it - BUT UNTIL YOU HAVE IT, YOU DON'T HAVE A CLUE WHAT IT'S REALLY LIKE!
Patients need to be better educated on their disease, so they are NOT forced into situations with doctors pressuring them to make un-informed decisions about their care. I suggest looking into the Dummies series of books. Breast Cancer for Dummies really helped me understand my path report, staging, grade and all that medical terminology.
these are just my thought on the subject. I will add more as I can think of them - but till then stay STRONG, be POSITIVE - YOU CAN BEAT THIS!

You are so right . Cancer is now in many cases a chronic condition, like many other diseases that does not mean it is a death sentence.

Thanks for that enlightening information. It's one of those situations where no one knows how to react, or what to expect - even the almighty doctors. Not that I'm against doct...
