Race car driver devotes life to autism awareness
From the Detroit Free Press:
Michigan race driver Marc Miller has done some outstanding work in recent years for autistic children.
Miller, 33, of Holland, has raised awareness of the disorder through his "Race Now for Autism" program and appearances at "Autism Speaks" charity functions and walks throughout the country.
Miller, one of the brightest go-kart talents in America in his teen years and a former CASCAR (Canadian NASCAR equivalent) competitor, knows firsthand the challenges parents with autistic kids face -- his eldest son, Evan, 4, is autistic.
"Thanks to Jackie and my kids, Evan and Seth, for letting me take time to pursue this venture," Miller said. "Evan is doing great, and his outlook is good. He's now in full-time integration at an early childhood center in Zeeland and will soon participate in a 'Young Fives' program at a regular school. I'm very proud to be representing the country overseas."
