Every month, millions of visitors click on The Breast Cancer Site’s big pink button, helping to raise money for free mammograms. Throughout 2008, the site has donated more than 200 free mammograms each month. Here are all the details from the press release:
If The Breast Cancer Site records 10 million clicks by September 30, Bare Necessities will fund an additional 100 free mammograms.
“We appreciate the support of our loyal visitors and hope that others will join them this month,” said Tim Kunin, CEO of GreaterGood Networks/CharityUSA.com, which operates The Breast Cancer Site. “It only takes a second to click and can make an enormous difference in a person’s life. Early detection is key to the successful treatment of breast cancer.”
By the second week of September, The Breast Cancer Site had reached almost 3 million clicks.
8 Million Clicks Recorded In June
Earlier this year, The Breast Cancer Site met its goal of 8 million clicks during its “Make June Survivor Month Challenge” and successfully raised an additional $10,000 towards providing free mammograms for women in need.
The Breast Cancer Site’s sponsor Bare Necessities donated the $10,000 towards free mammograms after visitors to the site recorded 8 million clicks in June on the pink Click to Give™ button located on the site’s homepage (www.thebreastcancersite.com). This money is in addition to the normal funds provided by the site’s advertisers for the Click to Give™ program.

Launched in October 2000, The Breast Cancer Site provides funding for the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s free mammogram program and for breast cancer research through three important channels: the company’s innovative Click to Give™ program, direct donations through such site programs as Gifts That Give More™, and contributions paid for by items sold through the Breast Cancer Site’s store.
The Click to Give™ program allows visitors to the Beast Cancer Site to provide funding for free mammograms by simply clicking on the pink button located at the top of the homepage (www.thebreastcancersite.com). Each Click to Give™ on the site’s homepage is paid for by advertisers and 100% of this ad revenue goes directly to support the work of the charities listed on the site.
In 2007, the Click to Give™ program funded more than 3,801 free mammograms—visitors to the site paid nothing to participate in the program. The totals of the 2008 Click to Give program are posted on the Breast Cancer Site’s results page and are updated daily.
Further funding for free mammograms and other breast cancer projects come from the sale of items such as Pink Ribbon clothing and jewelry at The Breast Cancer Site’s Pink Ribbon Store. . Purchases from The Breast Cancer Site store in 2007 funded an additional 3,349 mammograms for women in need.
In total, working with its charity partner the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the site provided funding for 7,151 mammograms for low income, uninsured, and working poor women throughout the United States and Puerto Rico last year.
In recent years, The Breast Cancer Site has worked the Mayo Clinic to fund research into a cure through the site’s Gifts That Give More™ program.
