Chocolate for breast cancer

Selling stuff to raise money for breast cancer isn't new (think: pink packaging everywhere!) but I just read about a woman in the Seattle P-I blogs who raised the bar. (pun intended!)

Thompson is the CEO and owner of Seattle Chocolate Company. A scare with an abnormal mammogram compelled her to do something positive for women's cancer issues. She came up with an idea: donate 100 percent of the net profits from one of her best selling products, the Extreme Dark Truffle Bar, to women's cancer charities.

This product is now a powerful vehicle for women to not only treat themselves to something sweet, but to do something good for other women battling cancer.

Thompson isn't new to cause-marketing. She's also the mastermind behind the Chick Chocolates line, which included a Survivor Chick flavor. Back when that line launched, that's when Thompson first decided to support cancer organizations and gave 100 percent of net profits from the sale of every Survivor Chick box went to breast cancer charities.
