One thing I would like people to know is that once you have this diagnosis it is with you forever, even when your treatment is complete. I had breast cancer and was treated from December 07 through mid March 08. I was fine and had no problems. There have been 2 scary times. One was when my radiation was complete and I felt "set free" like no one was wathcing. I was informed of my diagnosis by the radiologist not my family doctor or ob/gyn. Once the diagnosis was made, he was off the case and on came the surgeon. After surgery I moved to the radiation oncologist and when that was done she was as well for six months. There is also medical oncologist I see twice a year but no one seems to be in charge. I suppose it will all come together next time I see the gyn or pmd - I see those 2 annually. That was a scary time. Secondly, was when I went for my six month mammoram. I did not think anything of it. When I got into the treatment room, I became so anxiious I could not speak calmly and my ears were pounding. Fortunately, the radiologist read the films immediately and gave me the report before I left. So, be prepared for how you will feel.
