I have read some of your blog and I have a question for you. How old was your son when he started to speak? Our son is 3 in October and he does not really speak. You might think you hear a word here and there but often you just wonder if you are just having high hopes. The one thing I can see is that he does understand a lot of what we say. Also, Did you have any trouble getting your son to drink from a cup? I really would go to the TEACCH center as it was absolutely worth my time in the state I was living in when we found out my first son had Asperger Syndrome. They will advocate for you and push the school when necessary. They may even offer some great help that can be so very useful and they are good people-at least in my state. I am so happy to meet you. The TEACCH center was totally worth my time. My oldest son has been mainstreamed and everything is going very well for him. Now we need to start over again with our little one and because I am in another country now-I do not have the benefit of the TEACCH center. We have a team but I think TEACCH did a stand up job if I need to compare the two. Oma (Dutch) My Mom taught me that. She and Dad lived in Zeist before my sister and I were born. Mom loved Holland.

Hi, I am a mom of two boys. One of my children is 12 and has AS and my little one has Autism. I wanted to say to you that I just had the test for Fragile X Syndrome because I want to rule it in or out for my children. I hope it helps to know you are not alone in the world. I am not on here often because it is a very difficult time for us with so many appointments and meetings etc. but I thought there might not be so many people talking about FXS. I wanted to say hello and ask you how old is your little one? Have you found anyone here to talk with? I have just joined so I haven't even had time to look around very much. Blessings to you both. May I recommend your local TEACCH center if you have not already contacted them. I do not have my results yet and they will not be here for about a month but my little one might have it too.
