I moved from Australia with its almost-free healthcare system just in time to have two children, one with a severe congenital heart defect requiring heart surgery. Some days I feel I need a PhD in Personal Health Management to ensure the health of my family and be an adequate healthcare advocate for my child with a CHD. Only our naturopath seems willing to provide preventative medical care and it is difficult to manage the many providers involved in treating a chronic condition.
