Journal Apologies for the silence.

I've been working on a web site, we're moving in two weeks, I have a sick guinea pig to nurse, and I'm writing a movie!

I'm writing a movie for Script Frenzy (http://scriptfrenzy.org).  I'm also regional coordinator for Alberta.  And I'm running a web site for participants to chat at (http://chatnano.net).

Katonia is doing well, the vet thinks it's mild pneumonia, and so the antibiotics will help her through it.

And moving is going to be fun - in the good way and the b…[more]

Journal Pet Health - my babygirl (Part 2)

Katonia's bloodwork came back.  Her white blood cell count is high, indicating some kind of illness her body is fighting off.  She's anemic (which we already knew).  And her kidney numbers are indicative of some kind of kidney malfunction.

The vet is prescribing a round of antibiotics and fatty acids, with a follow-up visit in a week.  This is just in case she's got an infection of some kind, since there were blood cells in her urine and it was so dilut…[more]

Journal Pet Health - my babygirl

I adopted Katonia from the Calgary Humane Society when she was about 4 or 5 months old.  Someone had found her in Nosehill Park in November (for those who don't know, Calgary is COLD in November).

That was December 2004.

Katonia is nearly four years old now, which is middle-aged for a guinea pig.  She is white with a beige forehead and black eyes.  She's a long-haired Abysinnian, which is the hair type that sticks out in all directions.

Last weekend, I realized that …[more]

Journal Communication? What's that?

I guess it was inevitable.

My boyfriend and I had a complete breakdown in communication tonight.  Either he didn't take me literally enough, or I didn't give enough details in what I was talking about, and between the two of us we managed to have two upsets.

Of course, when we have an upset, I get snarky and then go silent; he just goes quiet and later on reminds me that he doesn't like being snapped at.

Which I am very much aware of, but I have no idea how to circumvent th…[more]

Journal Happy Easter!

The Lord is risen!  Hallelujah!  :)

I got some editing done today, picked up the last items I needed to be able to do my story properly at the service tonight, had a bath, e-mailed a few places that we might move to.

Katonia, my female guinea pig, seems to be on the decline.  It could be age-related, but I'm betting on her heart murmur.  I'm calling the vet Monday and hoping for a Wednesday eveing appointment.

The service tonight went well.  My story was first, and I…[more]

Journal It's so much fun having ADHD...

Slept in this morning, checked e-mail, watched TV and did Sudoku, looked up more places online and e-mailed about two of them, watched TV and did Sudoku, remembered to eat meals, and now it's bedtime and I didn't get any writing or editing done today whatsoever.

*sigh*

I guess I'll be really busy tomorrow...

Journal Maundy Thursday

I worked today.  Dashed home in between sessions so I could e-mail my time sheets to the office (I kind of need to be paid next week).  Both sessions were good.  Morning client is sick; has been since Monday, and while he's better, I probably shouldn't have been there bothering him while he was so spacey.   Afternoon client had a visit from his new OT, who happens to be the director of the agency.  That was great; got some tips and will be getting some mor…[more]

Journal I'm kind of sleepy now.

Today was another education day.  We had a presentation about identifying with ASD (funny since I over-identify) and one about choosing strategies for helping a child meet goals from his or her IPP.

This morning, I gave a short presentation on the materials I'm using with my afternoon client.  I had shown them to his speech therapist on Monday, and she asked if I would mind.  Everyone seemed fairly impressed; I just happened upon a few excellent sites.  So I'l…[more]

Journal Girls and ADHD and eating disorders etc.

An article on the CBC web site announces that teenage girls with ADHD are more likely to develop bulimia than their non-ADHD peers.

The afternoon announcer on Shine FM, the local Christian radio station, asked for people to write her an e-mail about this article.

Here is what I wrote to her:

Hi,I wanted to write because I am a 31-year old woman who was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 28. Suddenly everything made sense (well, nearly everything); my lack of organiz…[more]

Journal More on writing.

I'm all set to be the Alberta ML (Municipal Liaison) for ScriptFrenzy this year.  I already do this for all of Canada for NaNoEdMo, and I co-ML Calgary for NaNoWriMo (2008 will be year four).  I have to schedule write-ins and edit-ins, support the people attempting the challenge, answer questions, give advice, moderate the discussion boards... and try to reach the goal myself!  I suppose it's somewhat crazy to be an ML, but I enjoy it.  It's a way for me to meet new…[more]
