My path to wellness has been a mixture of alternative and conventional treatments. After my diagnosis in February 2006, I saw several conventional doctors...they pretty much gave me the same story: chemo, surgery and radiation, in different combinations, but basically the same. One of my doctors from Sloan Kettering said I had some time and so I decided to try the alternative route.
I went to Oasis of Hope in Tijuana Mexico. What an incredible experience. It was almost like staying in a hotel...every room was private with a second bed for a companion. The food was yummy and healthy. When you were done with treatments, you could go to the gym around the corner, down to the beach or just walk around. They even planned excursions to the museums or shopping areas. The treatments they offered varied according to your health condition and your personal desires; they offered compelmentary (conventional and alternative together) or in my case, I chose just alternative. I had slow progress with this while I saw others have almost overnight improvment. Even a Stage IV colon cancer patient had incredible results in a week's time!
When I came home, I decided to have some conventional treatment just to get my tumor out. It had shrunk a little, but not quickly enough. I have a three year old, my husband is in the military and was being transfered out of state for 6 months. So I felt that I had to do something quickly. I had 2 rounds of chemo and a lumpectomy. Even though I had three positive lymph nodes, I turned down additional chemo and radiation.
Instead I have found a local MD who practices compelmentary medicine and have been getting cesium chloride, a cancer peptide shot every three weeks, using Polymva (see Polymva.com), a device called the WARP 10 (by Quantum) and other mega doses of minerals and vitamins. He is tracking not only traditional cancer markers, but three growth factors as well. One growth factor is to track vascular growth (since tumors need their own blood supply). Another is to track membrane growth (as tumors develop their own membranes) and another one but I don't know what that is. If all 5 numbers increase, he will ask for a PET scan. Among other factors he tracks, he also looks at my comprehensive hormone numbers. Even though my estrogen receptor was NEGATIVE, my ESTRONE (the bad estrogen) was high! Go figure!
So I'm also on bioidentical hormone creams to get my hormones balanced.
The main thing for me is to my stress levels down. This affects my sleep (and you need melatonin to stave off cancer), inflammation (the precursor to all diseases) and hormone levels!
I just started a 12-week exercise challenge at the YMCA. It's not only great for reducing stress, but did you know that exercise is the only way to move lymph?
And last, REBOUND! Jump on a little mini-trampoline to get your lymph going. Rebounding is the BEST way to move lymph and you can only move lymph, which eliminates bad stuff, by MOVEMENT. The action of going up and down opens and closes the lymph nodes to push the lymph through. AStronauts are required to jump on trampolines after they've been in space because their lymph has slowed down so much!
So there's my story in a big nut shell!
