Grumpy doesn't even cover it. Pissy, or bitchy maybe. Those adjectives are closer to the truth. I'm not sure what's going on with my kids these days. Yes, it's hot, and my room is the only one with air conditioning (well, I'm the one with a job), but holy crab cakes! All Maya and Zion want to do is sit in my room, on my bed, and play games or use the computer or watch TV or fight. Anything, as long as it is within arms length of me. I want to scream. I know there…[more]

diet, exercise, health, doctor
I got an e-mail yesterday from Dr. Fine. And he said he wanted to know more about my husband and I before he finalized the treatment plan, but he attached two documents to the e-mail and mentioned that participating in thedailyplate.com would be a mandatory part of my treatment. doctor, naturopath, muscle, overweight, metabolism, embarrassed
I went to see a naturopathic doctor this past Saturday. A friend of a friend recommended him, and since my husband has high blood pressure and diabetes, I thought it would be great to see if we can complement Western medicine with something natural. It was hot as the devil this …[more]

exercise, spin, customer service, rude
This morning I went back to the gym for my Saturday spin class. My girlfriend E. sent me a text message saying she was still taking Vicodon for her extracted tooth and wouldn't join me today. Damn! Having her in the class makes it a lot more fun. Nevertheless, my daughter was with me so we could run errands together afterwards. I was putting on my bike shoes when I looked up and saw who this morning's instructor was going to be. My least favorite - a woman I'll ca…[more]

spin, exercise, slacking at the gym
Today's my spin day. I always go Wednesdays and Saturdays, I often go on Sundays, too, and then whenever I get a text from someone in the class asking me to join them. It's a fun - albeit weird - way to socialize and meet people. Immediately you know one thing about them: They care about their health. Yes, we all have bad habits, too (I am not ready to tell you mine), but we're making strides toward a healthy lifestyle. So we already have something in common. Oddly enough,…[more]
