Question Do your children with Autism look forward to the Christmas Season?Questions are a quick way to get answers and input from the community.

In our home, the day after Thanksgiving is the day we begin decorating for Christmas.  Our children look forward to this tradition.  I was sick yesterday, so we only got the tree up.  Caitlin was a bit upset by the break in tradition.  How do your kids feel about the holidays?

Question On Holidays..do you find yourself hosting the parties more than you are invited to them because of your children with Autism?Questions are a quick way to get answers and input from the community.

I find it easier to have the festivities at our house, rather than have our large family intrude on another's house.  My children and myself are more relaxed at our home, so I insist we Holiday here.I have friends who are not invited to parties because of their Autistic children...I find that very sad.Everyone is invited to our home.

Question Open question... Do you think media, when presenting Autism, is one-sided... if so, which side do you think is presented?Questions are a quick way to get answers and input from the community.

I think most media goes for the sensationalism of autism, like Jenny McCarthy and Andrew Wakefield of curing the kids.I just read Dr. Paul Offit's book and am so impressed by him.  I do not think Autism is what is presented in the media.  I would love to see a more positive approach.

Question How many parent's of Autistic children smoked cigarettes during their lifetime?Questions are a quick way to get answers and input from the community.

I smoked cigarettes before Caitlin was born...quit soon after I found out I was pregnant with her. There is a new study out today about nicotine, the brain and autism.  I try not to get too scientific about Autism...my brain can only handle so much...but, I am curious,I wonder if the scientist are on to something.

Question How far would you go to cure your child with Autism?Questions are a quick way to get answers and input from the community.

I have recently read about children who have gone through the GF/CF diet, B12 shots, Chelation, scoping of the intestines, an elemental diet for 90 days, biopsies for lyme and lumbar punctures....How far does a parent go for the "cure" of their child with Autism?I am heartbroken for these children...can I be the only one?

Question Do you think that you can "cure" Autism?Questions are a quick way to get answers and input from the community.

I read stories where parent's and doctor's say they have "cured" or "recovered" a child with Autism.  I understand that the label is for life.

Question Do you think their is too much conflict within the Autism community?Questions are a quick way to get answers and input from the community.

I believe there is way too much conflict in the autism community between parent's who choose the biomedical approach and those who are more conventional in their treatment of Autism.  I am curious to what other's think.

Question If your firstborn was diagnosed with Autism, would you consider having more children?Questions are a quick way to get answers and input from the community.

I am the mother of 6 children.  5 of my children have Autism.  I am questioned often on why I continued to have more children. I am wondering if others have considered not having more because of an Autism diagnosis.

Question I have been around children with Autism for so many years, I don't notice the flapping and buzzing... When you are out in public, do you notice the behaviors when a child is "stimming" (buzzing and flapping)? Questions are a quick way to get answers and input from the community.

I have been surrounded by buzzing and flapping for so many years that I just don't notice anymore.I am curious to how it seems to a person who has never been around the "stemming".
