Journal Not Strep!

kids, doctor, seattle, streptococcus, naturopath, scarlet fever, immune system, pregnant women, sore throat, streptococcus agalactiae, streptococcus pyogenes

I came down with a sore throat, extreme tiredness, and a really nasty, grassy taste in my mouth recently.  I scheduled a doctor's appointment and googled "bad taste in mouth," not expecting the results to be particularly worthwhile. (They were'nt, though it does provide a lot of good reasons to go to the doctor.)

I was worried about Strep because I was recently exposed to it, and with a baby at home and one on the way, I didn't want the whole family getting sick. …[more]

Journal Upcoming Trusera Features

trusera, features, ideas, road map, members, updates

I thought I'd share some of the ideas that we have on the short-term horizon for new features and feature improvements at Trusera.  I'd love your thoughts or additional ideas.  If you don't see your idea on the list, don't be concerned, but let me know!

Here are some of the features on our radar screen:

Journal Reflecting on Yoga Teachers

We had a substitute teacher in my Yoga class recently. Like a child who's routine has changed or a mouse with moving cheese, I did not adjust well to this. My class is very early in the morning, so I think I'm working mostly from the early, animalistic base of my brain at that hour. I wondered to myself if our local correctional institute had a Yoga Teacher Training program, harumphed a lot, and then left early. I left, for the first time ever, more stressed …[more]

Journal Yoga at the YMCA

I confess that I'm a recovering Yoga Snob.  Since a bad experience at the 24 Hour Fitness about a million years ago, I've avoided large class, gym yoga.  Today, I was totally exhilirated by a Yoga Flow class here at our local YMCA, Merideth Mathews, in Seattle.  I think these kinds of classes need to be chosen carefully if you're new to yoga.  The pace is fast, the class size doesn't lend itself to individual coaching, and the terminology can be confusi…[more]

Journal Something Going Around

My friends and family have been suffering through a string of minor but annoying little sicknesses. It seems there a solid early fall flu and a nasty cold working their way around our area of the Northwest. There's supposed to be a web site for posting if you're sick, so you can see if it's going around the neighborhood. Does anyone remember it?

Journal Bike Commuting in Seattle

Want to save money, lower stress, and increase your fitness all for 20 minutes of time out of your day?  Try bike commuting.  My normal commute by bus an hour, twenty minutes by car, and about an hour to an hour and ten minutes by bike.  With biking, though, I get two workouts a day for the extra twenty minutes a day.  Oh, and you do risk death.  Did I mention stress relief?
