Alternative Approach to GERD

I've been suffering from acid reflux (gastroesophageal reflux disease) for some about eight years now. I've been scoped, etc., and been on all the usual drugs (Prevacid, Prilosec, etc.). The drugs were effective in tamping down the reflux but they gave me a very "weak stomach," I believe, and a kind of sick feeling. Some time ago, I started going to a naturopath and she recommended the following:

Generally, I've never felt better. My symptoms have been relieved: no reflux and no side effects. (I do get an occasional return, generally a reminder to revisit my treatment.) If you are open to this kind of approach, I'd consider talking to a naturopath. I would also be careful to buy only supplements from reputable providers like Thorne, ideally from a reputable naturopath.

There are a number of reports that the potency of over-the-counter supplements varies widely by manufacturer, particularly those brands that seem to have the most space in U.S. drug stores. I'd go with a naturopath's recommendation, instead, despite the significant additional expense. The links above will take you to specific vendors. I've never ordered from them. I'm just adding the links for reference.
