I got married at 40 and have been hoping / trying for a baby ever since. My husband and I knew that starting to try for a baby over 40 was a long shot. We didn't know about my stage 4 endometriosis. After one IVF in 2005, we have had four donor egg IVFs with two different donors. One chemical pregnancy, one ectopic, two negatives. We never thought it would take this long. We still have seven blasts frozen and we still have a lot; each other, many hard lessons, and hope.

I'll have the crumbs

My husband and I have slept two nights now in a very small bedroom with bare unfinished drywall, reeking of some kind of drywall glue that is probably so toxic it's banned in China, with a bare-bulb work light swinging overhead, in a queen-size bed which is just mattresses on the f... more

Support your local infertile

Whenever people ask how to support "friends who are having trouble," we infertiles are delighted to respond.  So here are some of my favorite things to suggest to anyone who wants to support a friend or family member struggling with infertility.1) Ask.  The sile... more

Nothing to tell

When I was single, which wasn't that long ago, and when I was younger, which seems like it was that long ago, it was so much fun to share romantic adventures with trusted friends.  There was always something to talk about.  Meeting someone interesting, having crushes, dis... more
