The Autism Spectrum and What I Want the World To Know

The one thing the world should know about the Autism Spectrum is that anyone could be on it and not even know.  The spectrum is so broad that it covers a wide range of personalities, some you would never guess have autism, and some who are so disabled by it that it would be obvious to anyone who has an idea of what autism can be.

Someone on the Autism Spectrum could be your neighbor, your co-worker, your child, your spouse.  Anyone on the spectrum is undoubtedly loved very much by their family, as well as others.  Those with autism can love, can feel hurt, can be upset about being "different", to the point of severe depression and suicidal thoughts.

Some who have autism function at high levels and some at lesser levels and what I'd like the world to know is that we families care very much about our Autism-Spectrum-loved-ones and would like to have more learned about autism so it can be treated and handled in more effective ways to the betterment of everyone involved.  We want the best for our loved ones.

Thanks Angi, when you love your kids or grandkids so much, you just have to do whatever you think is best for them and continue to be there for them and support them in whatever way you can. For me, it seemed that finding out all I could about it would be the best way for them and me. I knew next to nothing till I joined Trusera and I've learned so much from people who have been living it for a long time. I think it's easier for me a bit because my grandkids are so high-functioning and can express themselves very well, etc. I admire you, think I've read all of your postings, and seen many pictures of you and your handsome family. I've held positive thoughts for you and will continue to. Thanks for the response.

I have to say that I honestly have no idea about what you endure with autism. I was blessed with 1 healthy child and suffered 4 losses. I can deal with me having Breast Cancer, not once but twice, but I dunno if I could handle something affecting my child. You have helped to open a lot of eyes about things they don't know, and having read this I feel even more blessed to have my healthy child. Thank you. Stay strong!

Yes, it occurs to me often that so many people now seem like they may be autistic and just don't know it.

Sing it sister! I feel like we're part of a new religion. I can't help but think that everyone is on the spectrum, with all our family members that have been diagnosed. Thanks.
