Hi Maxine,

I'd be really interested in hearing your experiences with allergies/asthma. My aunt has adult asthma. Growing up my brother and I suffered from bronchospasms and used inhalers. However, our symptoms dissipated over the years and I stopped using my inhaler as a teen.

My youngest is 7 and she has to use 3 inhalers and a tablet per day and she is very outgoing and full of energy however when her asthma is bad she cannot do all the demanding things a child likes to do. She has started swimming lessons and taekwondo and these both sports help you lungs strengthen she has not needed her blue inhaler as much. she also has the condition anaphlaxis due to her severe allergies to milk egg and nuts, i have brought her up to be independent as when she is older she needs to deal with it. she is great about not eating out mcdonalds is her favourite restaurant so as a family we tend not to do the family meals out. but she is an inspiration to others she does not let it get her down she just gets on with it. thanks maxine

hi marilyn jordan is 14yrs old and he was a very delayed baby and toddler (hence his 2nd birthday little tikes car and all he did was just look at it) when we both no toddlers pounce on new toys get excited he has always had a blankness about him he has learning difficulties dyslexia speech language problems he has got a little independence and some social skills but he does not know how to communicate in certain situations so he will either do nothing no reaction or he goes off in one whole tantrum cannot tell you why and how he started. it is a sad time as we have just had 11yrs dealing with just learning difficulties to be told he is yet again on another waiting list to be tested to see if he has a a.s.d. but as a parent we know the goodness and the joy our children bring and the support we can get by sharing our experiences only enforces we do play a big role for them. keep in touch!

Hi Maxine! communication problem is number one cause of their tantrums since they cannot express their needs. Once communication problem is addressed, you'll notice there will be less tantrums. Have you tried using PECS? I find them very effective especially in children with Autism because these kids learn easily through visual.
My son Moshi is 7 and Kyamkyam is 5. Moshi's doing good in computer, he can write words and phrases real good and can draw. he can utter words but seldom talks. His social skills is poor and refuses to follow instruction of teachers in their SPED class, he wanna do activities of his own.
Kyamkyam is very sociable and loves to imitate. I'm going to send her in regular kindergarten school this June. She's echolalic but can express what she wants. If you have your friendster or multiply acct, you can she their pictures in my acct. My friendster ID is maryank3@yahoo.com.ph and my multiply ID is marilyn0904. I would love to see your kids picture too.
Don't worry, God has always a reason why he gave us our kids. He knows that we can handle the kids better than any parents that's why he chooses us to be their parents. Take care!
